Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a Climbing Arborist Trainee to support our crew in trimming, removing, planting and maintaining trees outdoors. Your office is the outdoors, and you will work on-site in Denver, CO.

You will progress with climbing systems (DdRT/MRS, SRT/SRS), operate with a ground crew and crew leader, and perform pruning and removal tasks, including installing cables and lightning protection. This permanent, full-time role offers career development and safety training.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors and working outdoors.
• 2–5 years of tree care experience or related field.
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights is preferred.
• Ability to complete Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program on hire.
• Ability to complete Davey first aid, CPR and defensive driving on hire.
• Pesticide licenses and related certificates preferred where required by law.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees using DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS systems as part of a crew.
• Work with ground crew and crew leader to perform assigned tasks.
• Perform pruning, thinning and removal of limbs safely and skillfully.
• Install cables, bracing and lightning protection where needed.
• Remove hazardous trees and maintain tools and equipment (chainsaws, chippers, lifts).

Position Overview

Perform services to support crew members in trimming, removing, planting and maintaining trees and vegetation by performing the following duties. Maintain CDL Requirements. Trim and remove trees, remove unwanted, diseased or dying limbs on trees, or to affect the health and safety of trees or surrounding areas by performing the following duties.

Salary Commensurate With Experience

Pay Range: $30-35/Hourly

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and crew leader.
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients.
• Including but not limited to:
• Pruning, thinning and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy
• Installation of cables, bracing and lightning protection systems
• Removal of hazardous trees
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.

Qualifications

What We’re Seeking:

• Love of the outdoors
• 2-5 Years of experience
• Preferred: Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey first aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
