Job summary

TAL Building Centers is seeking a delivery driver to transport materials to and from store locations in the Pacific Northwest. You will load, unload, and deliver orders to customers, while ensuring safety and accuracy in shipping paperwork.

Onsite role with full-time hours and benefits. You will operate various trucks and equipment, and must maintain logs and comply with state and federal driving regulations.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Must be able to speak and read English.
• CDL class A or B with air brake endorsement required.
• Must be qualified to drive truck and trailer, tractor and trailer or crane operator.
• 5 years’ experience preferred.
• Must have a current valid medical certification.
• Must be able to pass a road test.

Responsibilities

• Load, deliver, and unload materials to customers.
• Prevent damage and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Operate equipment and vehicles safely.
• Report vehicles needing service.
• Maintain trip logs and inspection reports.
• Stay aware of road conditions and regulations.
• Verify load against shipping papers.
• Prepare receipts for pickups and returns.
• Keep yard clean and report unsafe conditions.
• Assist in building loads and learn products.
• Communicate delivery instructions with supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Role Statement

To drive delivery truck with the capacity of 3 or more tons to transport materials to and from specified destinations. Deliveries are to be done safely and within the State and Federal guidelines.

Location

This position will be performed onsite at our store. Remote work is not available for this role.

Outcomes for Success

• Load, deliver, and unload materials as a service to customers.
• Prevent damage and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Operate various types of equipment and vehicles in a safe and professional manner.
• Report vehicles and equipment needing service and repair.
• Maintain necessary trip logs, vehicle inspection reports and other required documentation.
• Drive truck to destination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations, knowledge of the roads in the area and being aware of hazardous conditions.
• Verify load against shipping papers.
• Prepare receipts for load picked up and for returns.
• Assist in keeping the yard clean and orderly. Report any unsafe conditions.
• Assist in building loads, as required.
• Develop an understanding of basic products and commodities.
• Maintain telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be 21 years of age or older.

• Drivers must meet state requirements, including having a valid driver’s license with a CDL endorsement of class A or B with air brake endorsement.
• Must be qualified to drive truck and trailer, tractor and trailer or crane operator.

Physical Demands

• Heavy Work: Seldom lifting or exerting up to 50+ pounds of force to move objects. Heavy work may involve occasional standing and/or walking.
