Job summary

Foundation Building Materials (FBM) is seeking a CDL Driver to join our team in Iowa. You will operate company vehicles (up to 26’), perform safety inspections, and deliver building materials to customer sites while maintaining exceptional service and safety standards.

You will work within a safety-focused environment, with local routes and daily home time, contributing to a reliable supply chain for contractors and builders.

Qualifications

  • Possess valid Class B CDL (Class A CDL preferred for pup trailer and semi)
  • Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience
  • Team-oriented and able to follow safety protocols

Responsibilities

  • Operate vehicles (up to 26’ trucks) in compliance with DOT
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections
  • Deliver materials to customer sites on time with courteous service
  • Unload materials and verify against packing slips
  • Follow safety procedures and use PPE as required

Overview

Position Overview

At Foundation Building Materials (FBM), our CDL Drivers are essential—delivering materials safely, efficiently, and with pride. Enjoy local routes, daily home time, competitive pay, and a supportive culture built on safety and respect.

  • No set hours, standard start time is 6:30 AM (occasional Saturday availability preferred)
  • Class B CDL required
    • Class A preferred (pup trailer and semi)
    • Boom operation experience preferred
  • Physically demanding
Responsibilities and Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

  • Vehicle Operation
    • Safely operates company vehicles, including up to 26’ trucks, in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
    • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness
    • Deliver materials to customer project sites on time, providing excellent customer service
    • Additional training such as Forklift, and other specified equipment may be required
    • Basic understanding and knowledge of the operation of a forklift and other equipment
  • Delivery & Customer Service
    • Unload materials at delivery locations and verify deliveries against packing slips
    • Ensure deliveries are handled professionally and courteously, always representing the company positively
    • The ability to unload, protect, move and stage materials as specified by customer directive
    • Basic understanding and knowledge of building materials
  • Safety
    • Adheres to all driving regulations based on state and/or jurisdiction policies such as wearing a seatbelt
    • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment
    • Follow all safety protocols and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements to maintain a safe working environment
    • Use proper lifting techniques
    • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, safety shoes and clothing
  • Communication
    • Must attend and participate in all required meetings in relation to material delivery and overall company
  • Training Requirements
    • Attend and participate in all required company training programs
  • Physical Job Requirements
    • Frequent use of hands and arms for equipment operation, grasping and manipulation
    • Frequent driving or sitting in a truck, forklift or other similar equipment for multiple hours a day
    • Occasionally lift and/or move 80 lbs. and climb ladders carrying up to 50 lbs
    • Pushing and pulling carts loaded carts over various distances and surfaces. Some functions may be performed as a team
    • Must be able to learn how to operate a forklift and other company vehicles and must understand and be able to use miscellaneous tools and equipment, including but not limited to: dollies, flat carts, and rock carts
    • Additional physical requirements may be needed as duties are assigned
      • Ability to lift and carry 12’-14’ drywall
      • Lift 100lbs with another person

    Qualifications

    • Possess valid Class B CDL (Class A CDL preferred - pup trailer and semi)

    The listed pay range reflects the expected base rate for this position; actual compensation may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, and cost of living in the assigned market. This is a full-time position with competitive pay and benefits.

    • Base: $ 24.00-28.00 per hour
    • Job Type: Full-Time
