Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Safely operate Class A CDL equipment for transportation and delivery of eggs and egg products.
• Deliver eggs as scheduled; assist in unloading as needed.
• Reconcile deliveries with invoices and record product lot numbers.
• Monitor and record trailer temperatures as required.
• Report equipment malfunctions to Warehouse Lead or Transportation Supervisor.
• Maintain route book using the ELD.
• Foster positive relationships with warehouse staff, drivers, and office personnel.
• Report safety concerns to Transportation Manager.
• Use PPE when required; maintain a clean, safe work area.
• Ensure DOT standards and regulations are followed.
• Maintain good driving record and report violations.
• Pass drug screenings and bi-annual DOT physicals.
• Promote company safety culture.

Job Summary

The CDL Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation and delivery of eggs and egg products to retail, foodservice, and manufacturing facilities. This role is crucial in maintaining excellent customer relations and ensuring timely deliveries, contributing to the organization’s commitment to customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.

Essential Job Functions

• Safely operate commercial equipment with a Class A CDL for transportation and delivery of goods.
• Deliver eggs and egg products as scheduled and assist in unloading as requested by the customer.
• Reconcile deliveries with invoices and accurately record product lot numbers.
• Monitor and record trailer temperatures at specified times.
• Report equipment malfunctions to the Warehouse Lead or Transportation Supervisor.
• Maintain route book using the Electronic Logging Device (ELD).
• Foster positive working relationships with warehouse personnel, drivers, and office staff.
• Report safety concerns, equipment issues, and other pertinent matters to the Transportation Manager.
• Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Ensure compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) standards and regulations.
• Maintain a good driving record and report any driving violations.
• Pass initial and random drug screenings, as well as bi-yearly DOT physical examinations.
• Actively participate in and promote the company’s safety culture by following safe work practices.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

• Proficient in operating commercial vehicles and equipment such as semi-trucks and pallet jacks.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a team-oriented environment.
• Knowledge of DOT rules and regulations.
• Proficiency in using Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs).

Required Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• High School Diploma, General Education Degree (GED), or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of semi-driving experience.
• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the foodservice or manufacturing delivery industry.
• Additional certifications related to transportation safety.

Work Environment

This position involves driving and delivering products, which requires standing, lifting, and working in various weather conditions. The role also demands adherence to safety protocols and the use of PPE.
