Job summary

Aerotek in Des Moines, IA is hiring a CDL-A Truck Driver to deliver lumber, building materials, and construction products to residential and commercial job sites across Iowa, while closely coordinating with contractors and yard personnel. You will load, secure, transport, and unload materials, maintain safety and DOT compliance, and provide professional service with dispatch and customers.

This full-time, onsite role offers local routes, home every night, competitive pay ($22-$30/hour),

Qualifications

• CDL-A license with acceptable driving record.
• Minimum 2 years CDL driving experience preferred.
• Experience with flatbed trailers and load securing is preferred.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations, vehicle inspections, and safe transportation practices.
• Ability to safely handle and deliver building materials in varied weather and site conditions.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate Class A commercial vehicles per DOT regulations.
• Deliver lumber, drywall, trusses, siding, roofing, windows, doors to sites.
• Inspect loads for accuracy and proper securement.
• Assist with loading/unloading using forklifts or related equipment.

Now Hiring - CDL-A Truck Driver | Lumber & Building Materials Delivery

*Location: Des Moines, Iowa

*Summary:

• As a CDL-A Truck Driver, you'll play a critical role in delivering lumber, building materials, and construction products to residential and commercial job sites throughout Iowa. You'll work closely with contractors, builders, and yard personnel to ensure materials arrive safely, accurately, and on time.
• This is more than just a driving position. You'll be a key part of the customer experience, helping load, secure, transport, and unload materials while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and service.

*What You'll Be Doing Day to Day:

• Safely operate Class A commercial vehicles, including flatbed trucks and tractor-trailers, in compliance with DOT regulations.
• Deliver lumber, drywall, trusses, siding, roofing materials, windows, doors, and other building products to customer locations and construction sites.
• Inspect loads to ensure accuracy and properly secure materials for safe transportation.
• Assist with loading and unloading deliveries using forklifts, truck-mounted forklifts, boom equipment, or other material handling equipment as needed.
• Navigate residential, commercial, and active construction job sites while maintaining a high level of safety awareness.
• Provide professional customer service and communicate effectively with dispatch, yard personnel, and customers regarding delivery schedules and job site conditions.
• Follow all company safety policies, DOT regulations, and hours-of-service requirements.

*Qualifications:

• Valid Class A CDL with acceptable driving record - Considering Class B as well depending on experience
• Minimum of 2 years of CDL driving experience preferred.
• Experience operating flatbed trailers and securing loads with straps, chains, and tarps is preferred.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations, vehicle inspections, and safe transportation practices.
• Ability to safely handle and deliver building materials in a variety of weather and job site conditions.
