CDL/Collection Technician II

Full Time / Union Position

$17.00 per hour

Commercial Driver's License required

Class A or B CDL required, with Air Brakes endorsement.

About the Role:

In this role, you'll transport and set up blood collection equipment at various sites, and draw blood from donors at blood drives in schools, offices, and churches throughout Ft. Wayne and surrounding areas. No experience is necessary; our paid training includes classroom instruction and field practice.

Responsibilities:

• Balance production, donor care, and quality requirements to meet daily blood collection goals.
• Engage personally with donors, listen to their stories, and help them understand the importance of their donation.
• Ensure all blood collected meets regulatory standards and safety requirements.
• Work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Support your team members by showing up consistently and giving your best effort.
• Foster a friendly, team-oriented environment to encourage repeat donations.
• Interact positively and professionally with internal and external customers, demonstrating care and compassion.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Customer service experience and effective communication skills.
• Experience driving large vehicles preferred.
• Ability to load, drive, and unload vehicles; medical assistant or phlebotomy training is a plus but not required.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record; CDL Class A or B required.
• Basic computer skills preferred.
• DOT certification may be required; must pass physical and obtain medical certification if applicable.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, squat, push, pull, and stand or sit for long periods.

Additional duties include setting up and tearing down equipment, transporting supplies, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
