Job summary

Coram Deo Academy in Flower Mound, TX seeks a CDL Bus Driver to provide safe, reliable transportation for students to school events and activities. You will operate a school bus, follow routes, perform pre-trip inspections, and maintain records.

Position Summary

The CDL Bus Driver is responsible for providing safe, reliable, and timely transportation for students to events, games and other approved destinations.

Position Objective : Primary goal is to glorify God through the pursuit of excellence in transportation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Safely operate school bus or other authorized school vehicle.
• Transport students to and from school according to assigned routes and schedules.
• Transport students and staff for field trips, athletic events, and other school activities as assigned.
• Perform required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Conduct a thorough post-trip check to ensure no students or belongings remain on the bus.
• Maintain appropriate student behavior and enforce school bus safety rules.
• Assist students with safely entering and exiting the bus when necessary.
• Follow approved routes, designated stops, and transportation procedures.
• Maintain accurate mileage, inspection, attendance, and transportation records as required.
• Report accidents, vehicle problems, student incidents, and safety concerns promptly to the appropriate supervisor.
• Maintain the cleanliness and general appearance of the assigned bus.
• Follow procedures for emergencies, evacuations, severe weather, and other unexpected situations.
• Communicate professionally with students, parents/guardians, teachers, administrators, and other staff members.
• Maintain student confidentiality and demonstrate appropriate professional boundaries.
• Perform other transportation-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) appropriate for the vehicle being operated.
• Ability to meet applicable background screening, and training requirements.
• Knowledge of safe driving practices and student transportation procedures.
• Dependable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during emergencies.
• Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with children and adults.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous school bus or commercial driving experience.
• Previous experience working with children.
• CPR and First Aid certification.
• Knowledge of local roads.

Physical Requirements

The employee must be able to:

• Sit and operate school bus for extended periods.
• Safely enter and exit the vehicle.
• Bend, reach, climb steps, and perform vehicle safety inspections.
• Assist students during emergency situations when necessary.
• Work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
