Job summary

Foundation Building Materials is hiring CDL drivers to deliver building materials with local routes and daily home time. The role emphasizes safety, customer service, and adherence to DOT regulations. Basic forklift/Moffett operation may be required for some candidates, with training provided as needed.

Reporting to the Branch Manager, the position offers full-time hours with competitive pay and benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and HSA/FSA plans.

Qualifications

• Possess valid Class A or Class B CDL.
• Experience with flatbed and building materials delivery is preferred.
• Ability to operate a forklift and/or Moffett is required for Class B candidates.
• Strong understanding of load securement and DOT safety regulations.
• Physically capable of handling material loads and outdoor work.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment.
• Dependable with a strong work ethic and safety focus.

Responsibilities

• Safely operates company vehicles, including up to 26’ trucks, in DOT regulations.
• Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections for roadworthiness.
• Delivers materials to customer project sites on time with strong service quality.
• Additional training such as Forklift and other equipment may be required.
• Unloads materials at delivery locations and verifies deliveries against packing slips.
• Maintains professional conduct and represents the company positively.
• Unloads, protects, moves, and stages materials per customer directives.
• Ensures safe handling of building materials and basic material knowledge.
• Attends required meetings and company training programs.
• Follows safety protocols and OSHA requirements; uses proper lifting techniques.
• Works with team and communicates effectively with customers and branches.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

Vehicle Operation

• Safely operates company vehicles, including up to 26’ trucks, in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness
• Deliver materials to customer project sites on time, providing excellent customer service

• Additional training such as Forklift, and other specified equipment may be required

• Basic understanding and knowledge of the operation of a forklift and other equipment

Delivery & Customer Service

• Unload materials at delivery locations and verify deliveries against packing slips
• Ensure deliveries are handled professionally and courteously, always representing the company positively

• The ability to unload, protect, move and stage materials as specified by customer directive

• Basic understanding and knowledge of building materials

Safety

• Adheres to all driving regulations based on state and/or jurisdiction policies such as wearing a seatbelt
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment
• Follow all safety protocols and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements to maintain a safe working environment
• Use proper lifting techniques
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, safety shoes and clothing

Communication

• Must attend and participate in all required meetings in relation to material delivery and overall company

Training Requirements

• Attend and participate in all required company training programs

Physical Job Requirements

• Frequent use of hands and arms for equipment operation, grasping and manipulation
• Frequent driving or sitting in a truck, forklift or other similar equipment for multiple hours a day
• Occasionally lift and/or move 80 lbs. and climb ladders carrying up to 50 lbs
• Pushing and pulling carts loaded carts over various distances and surfaces. Some functions may be performed as a team
• Must be able to learn how to operate a forklift and other company vehicles and must understand and be able to use miscellaneous tools and equipment, including but not limited to: dollies, flat carts, and rock carts

• Additional physical requirements may be needed as duties are assigned

Qualifications

• Possess valid Class A or Class B CDL
• Valid CDL Class A preferred; Class B candidates will be considered with relevant equipment experience
• Ability to operate a forklift and/or Moffett (truck-mounted forklift) required for Class B candidates
• Experience with flatbed, building materials delivery, or job site deliveries preferred
• Strong understanding of load securement and DOT safety regulations
• Ability to load, unload, and handle materials in a physically demanding environment
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, outdoor, and customer-facing setting
• Dependable with a strong work ethic and commitment to safety
