Job summary

Hajoca is seeking a CDL Delivery Driver to operate commercial trucks, load and unload merchandise, and ensure accurate deliveries to job sites and facilities. You will verify documentation, collect payments for cash deliveries, and coordinate with customers to resolve discrepancies while maintaining safety and compliance.

Ideal candidates are 21+, hold a valid CDL with hazmat endorsement if needed, and can pass DOT exams.

Responsibilities

• Operate trucks safely and in compliance with Company rules, applicable laws, and regulations.
• Load the truck with Hajoca merchandise and secure it to prevent damage.
• Understand shipping documents and have accurate directions to destinations.
• Review shipping docs and ensure order accuracy.
• Unload merchandise at delivery and obtain legible signatures per policy.
• Collect outstanding payments for cash deliveries before releasing material.
• Work with customers on-site to resolve shipping discrepancies quickly.
• Load at vendor locations or other sites as needed.
• Provide sales leads by noting prospective customer names and addresses.
• Inspect truck and parts for safe operation and report issues.
• Complete Driver’s Daily Vehicle Inspection Report for GVWR 10,001 lbs+ when required.
• At end of day, remove truck keys to approved location and complete required safety training.

About the Role:

You will:

• Operate trucks safely and in compliance with Company rules, applicable laws, and regulations. Destinations include job sites, customer facilities, vendor facilities, other Hajoca locations, facilities of other wholesalers, or other locations as directed by management.
• Load the truck at the Profit Center with Hajoca merchandise to be delivered. Secure the load properly so that nothing will shift, get damaged, or fall from the truck. Ensure that the necessary equipment to safely unload the merchandise is available. Affix the appropriate DOT hazmat truck placards if hauling hazardous materials in excess of 1,000 lbs.
• Understand the shipping documents that are associated with the merchandise for each delivery and have accurate directions to each delivery destination.
• Review shipping documentation and ensure order accuracy.

• Unload correct merchandise from the truck and place it where the receiving party wants it. Obtain legible signature for all merchandise delivered per Company policy and procedure.
• Collect and secure outstanding payments for all cash sale deliveries prior to releasing the material to the customer.
• Work with customers at the delivery site to resolve shipping discrepancies quickly and accurately.

• Loadthe truck at other locations with merchandise. This includes merchandise picked up at vendor locations, returned by customers, and purchased from other wholesalers.
• Provide sales leads by noting prospective customer names and addresses discovered in the course of making deliveries.
• Inspect the truck and required parts and accessories to determine safe operating condition prior to departure from the Hajoca location. Keep truck clean of debris in cab and body.
• Advise management of any mechanical problems with the truck. At the end of the workday, complete the Driver’s Daily Vehicle Inspection Report when driving a delivery vehicle with a gross vehicle weight (GVWR) of 10,001 lbs. or more if a defect or deficiency is found.

• At the end of the workday, remove keys from the truck and store keys in the approved location.
• Successfully complete required safety and compliance training programs as assigned.
• Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.

About You:

• Be able to drive a vehicle over 26,001 lbs. As a CDL driver, you must:
• Be at least 21 years old
• Possess a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) for the vehicle(s) being driven, with hazmat endorsement if operating a vehicle that requires placarding for hazardous materials.
• Have a driving record that meets the criteria for being an Authorized Driver in accordance with Company policy.
• Be able to pass a Department of Transportation physical examination before beginning work and again at least every two years while employed and performing this job function.

Our ideal candidate will also:

• Know the laws, rules and regulations governing driving motor vehicles in general, and commercial motor vehicles subject to Department of Transportation regulations in particular.
• Be able to safely operate any delivery vehicle, including commercial motor vehicles that have a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 26,001 lbs. or more.
• Know of, be able to apply, and practice safety precautions in a warehouse and material handling environment.
• Be able to build and maintain a positive working relationship with customers, vendors and co-workers.

• Be able to remain calm and function effectively in stressful, unexpected, and/or emergency situations.
• Be able to learn to operate warehouse material-handling equipment.
• Be able to learn and operate the computer related systems used in the delivery process.
• Read, write, speak and understand English.
• Be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
