Job summary

Austin Powder Company is seeking a CDL Class A Driver/Operator to maintain and operate vehicles and equipment at our Fredericktown, MO sites. The role involves driving 20–30% of the time and performing physical labor the rest, including loading/unloading materials and ensuring safe, compliant operations.

You will handle bulk explosive products, operate on-site manufacturing units, and maintain accurate logs and load verification.

Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age as required by the DOT.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Class-A CDL license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains/operates vehicles and equipment in a safe, professional manner.
  • Driving time is 20 – 30% and remainder is performing physical labor activities using hand tools, shovels, etc.
  • Coordinates and handles mechanical mechanisms to deliver emulsion.
  • Picks up and transports goods, inventory, hazardous materials, and other cargo to destinations.
  • Keeps driving and delivery logs, confirms load contents against manifest, and tracks hours.
  • Loads/unloads and transports materials to destinations, includes overhead bin loading with fall protection.
  • Operates MMUs onsite at customer locations to create bulk products for blasting.
  • Master the operation of Austin Powder bulk equipment to ensure product quality.
  • Complete pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance.
  • Comply with regulatory requirements and company policies for bulk/packaged explosives.

## CDL Class A Driver/OperatorApplylocations: Fredericktown MOtime type: Full timeposted on: Posted Todayjob requisition id: JR100295**Home Nightly - No Weekends - Sign-On Bonus\*** Put Your Career in the Driver Seat**Join the Family** - Come work for an exciting company offering great benefits, challenging opportunities, and colleagues who feel more like family.**Key Responsibilities and Duties*** Maintains/operates vehicles and equipment in a safe, professional manner.* Driving time is 20 – 30% and remainder is performing physical labor activities using hand tools, shovels, etc. outside with exposure to the elements.* Ability to coordinate and handle mechanical mechanisms to deliver emulsion.* Picks up and transports goods, inventory, hazardous materials, and other types of cargo to intended destinations.* Keeps driving and delivery logs maintained, confirms the contents of loads match manifest documents, and tracks and reports working hours.* Responsible for loading/unloading and transporting materials and supplies to and from specified destinations, which includes overhead bin loading requiring fall protection.* Operates mobile manufacturing units (MMUs) onsite at customer locations to create a wide array of bulk products for blasting.* Masters the operation of Austin Powder bulk equipment to create consistent quality in our products to enhance our customer experience.* Complete pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and reports any maintenance requirements to Location Manager.* Comply with all regulatory requirements and company policies for the delivery of bulk and packaged explosives.* Operate mobile manufacturing equipment, which includes precise control of chemicals into the product.* Hands on approach in the daily operation and maintenance of the Austin Powder location and customer sites* Other duties as assigned.***Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities**** Valid Class-A CDL license and cleaning driving record* Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.* Physical ability to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.* Must be able to read and interpret gauges and regulate gauges to correct standards.* Maintain accurate records of daily operations, including product usage and safety checks.* Trouble shooting, problem solving skills to fix issues in the field.* Hazmat, tanker, and air brake endorsements are highly preferred.* Must meet the requirements of all State and Federal explosive laws and qualify as an ATF explosive possessor.* Unrestricted for operating manual transmissions is a plus.* Ability to work non-traditional hours (starting very early)* High attention to detail to have accurate inventory record keeping.* Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.* Ability to follow instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.* Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, product bulletins, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.* Ability to identify products by sight.* Reliable transportation***Education and Experience**** Must be 21 years of age as required by the DOT* High school diploma or equivalent***Reporting Relationships**** Reports to the Location Manager for daily operations and when on-site at a customer’s location, will take instructions from Blaster-In-Charge***Work Environment and Physical Demands**** This position involves working outdoors in all weather conditions, lifting and carrying approximately 50 lbs. and doing a variety of hands-on physical tasks utilizing material handling equipment, safety equipment and hand tools.**Austin Powder** is an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Employer and is committed to ensuring equal employment opportunities for all job applicants and employees.
