Job summary

Spee Dee Delivery Service, Inc. is seeking a CDL Class A Driver to operate a tractor-trailer or straight truck for delivering and picking up palletized freight. The role follows a Mon-Fri schedule with a 7:30 AM start and overtime expected weekly.

Wages range from $23.00 to $27.00 per hour based on experience, with overtime paid at time-and-a-half after 40 hours. A $10,000 sign-on bonus is offered for CDL Class-A drivers.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Hold a valid CDL Class A driver's license with a good driving record.
• Ability to operate a manual transmission and obtain doubles/triples endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Drive tractor-trailer or straight truck to deliver and pick up palletized freight.
• Perform pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle and safety compliance.
• Turn in pre-trip forms and maintain mileage and maintenance records.
• Deliver palletized freight promptly and collect payment when needed and return bills of lading to the office.
• Maintain required DOT certifications and company safety policies.
• Assist other drivers with loading, delivery, or pickup as needed.

Job Summary

The CDL Class A Driver (LTL) is responsible for driving a tractor-trailer combination or straight truck to deliver and pick up palletized freight and/or large shipments.

Hours and Wages

• Monday-Friday, 7:30AM start - completion of route
• 10-15 hours of overtime expected each week
• Paid OT at time and a half after 40 hours per week
• $23.00-$27.00 per hour, based on experience

Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct a pre-trip inspection before driving to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment are in good working order
• Turn in pre-trip form and complete mileage and maintenance forms
• Deliver palletized freight in a timely manner to customers and pick up freight from shippers
• Verify all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate
• Collect payment for shipments as necessary and return bill of ladings to the office for billing purposes
• Maintain all required certifications required by DOT and company safety policies
• Wash the exterior of tractor and equipment daily
• Assist other drivers with loading, delivery, or pick up as needed

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to operate a manual transmission
• Must possess or have the ability to obtain a doubles/triples endorsement
• Must possess good customer service and organizational skills
• Must be able to work independently and make quick decisions

Education and Experience

• At least 21 years of age
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Hold a valid CDL Class A driver's license with a good driving record that meets company standards

Physical Requirements

• Ability to pass a DOT physical
• Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly up to 100 pounds occasionally
• Full range of motion with no limits on grasping, standing, squatting, stair climbing, walking, etc.
• Ability to work with all types to freight which include, but are not limited to hazardous material, perishable food and alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals
