Position Purpose

Food and food service delivery drivers fulfill a critical role in the country’s food supply chain. Our delivery drivers not only make sure customers’ products arrive at their destination on time and in good condition, but they are the face of our company—building lasting relationships with customers. Drivers operate a tractor trailer or straight truck on intrastate and interstate local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes to deliver and unload food and related products to customers in a safe and timely manner in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Communicate and interact with customers, vendors and co-workers professionally, ensuring questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner
  • Function as a team member and perform duties to best serve the company
  • Perform all required safety checks (pre/post trip) and inspections of tractor/truck and trailer per DOT regulations; ensure safety standards are met and take action as needed
  • Report safety issues and/or repairs required
  • Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
  • Immediately report safety hazards; inspect trailer for proper loading and securing of freight
  • Perform quantity checks and verify customer invoices for loaded products
  • Complete required paperwork accurately and legibly
  • Move tractor to loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed
  • Drive to and deliver customer orders according to the route schedule
  • Unload products and transport them into customer storage areas
  • Perform damage control checks, scan, and adjust orders per company policy
  • Verify delivery with customer and obtain proper signatures
  • Collect money (cash or checks) where required; handle returns and secure trailer doors
  • Ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are properly locked and secured
  • Unload damaged goods and returns and complete required paperwork; keep trailers clean
  • Complete daily hours-of-service log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
  • Maintain cleanliness of tractor and loading dock area
  • Secure all equipment and complete necessary paperwork at end of shift
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • 12 months commercial driving experience
  • High school diploma/GED or state-approved equivalent
  • Valid CDL A
  • Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable)
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years
  • Pass post-offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Pass road test
  • Valid current DOT Health Card and/or able to secure a new DOT Health Card
  • Able to lift and maneuver freight of varying size and weight (approx. 10-90 pounds depending on location); use equipment as needed
