Job summary

Airgas, a leading U.S. supplier of industrial gases, is hiring a CDL B Driver in Bessemer, AL. The role involves loading, unloading, and delivering compressed gas cylinders to local and regional business customers from a branch or plant using a company vehicle.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A or B CDL with Hazmat and Airbrake endorsements.
• Hazmat endorsement required; candidates without it will not be considered.
• Maintain valid driver’s license, medical card & endorsements.
• No more than two traffic convictions or one at-fault accident in the last 3 years.
• No DUI within seven years.
• Must be able to lift 75lbs and move 125lbs with equipment.
• At least 1 year CDL driving experience or trucking school certificate within last 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Load and unload the truck daily with gas cylinders & supplies.
• Nurture courteous & professional relationships with customers.
• Support deliveries in a timely manner.
• Safely secure and unsecure cylinders.
• Complete deliveries on customer property sites using a hand cart.

• Consistent routine: Monday-Friday predictable schedule with weekend support as needed to help our team and customers, featuring 7am starts to support team flow

As a key representative of Airgas, the delivery driver contributes to the safe and efficient delivery of compressed gas cylinders to local and regional business customers from an Airgas branch or plant location using a company provided CDL B vehicle. This position involves loading, unloading, and returning compressed gas cylinders while frequently connecting with Airgas customers.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Class A or B CDL with HAZMAT Airbrake endorsements
• Hazmat IS REQUIRED. CANDIDATES WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED UNLESS THEY CURRENTLY HAVE THEIR HAZMAT
• Maintain appropriate driver’s license, medical card & endorsements
• No more than two (2) traffic convictions: OR two (2) at-fault accident in the last 3 years; or no more than a combination of one (1) traffic conviction and one (1) at-fault accident in the last 3 years
• No driving while under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance within the last seven (7) years
• Must be able to work in a drug-free environment
• Be able to regularly lift 75lbs and move more than 125lbs with the aid of material handling equipment
• Must have 1 year of CDL driving experience in the last 5 years or be able able to provide proof of a certificate of completion from trucking school completed in the last 12 months.
