Job summary

Midland in Indiana is seeking a local truck driver with a Class B CDL to transport goods in palletized or packaged form. You will load with a propane sit-down forklift and unload at customer sites, starting at 6:00am, Monday to Friday, with local routes.

Responsibilities include vehicle checks, hours logs, bills of lading, load documentation, and routing. Must have 2+ years of relevant experience, a High School Diploma or GED, CDL-B, DOT physical, and willingness to drive at night.

Qualifications

• Two or more years related experience
• Must have a Class B Commercial Driver’s License
• Must pass Department of Transportation physical
• Night driving capability
• Load/unload using powered equipment as needed

Responsibilities

• Check vehicles before and after driving to ensure safety equipment is functional
• Maintain logs of hours and vehicle service per regulations
• Obtain receipts or signatures and collect payments when required
• Check load-related documents for completeness and accuracy
• Read bills of lading for assignment details
• Report vehicle defects or accidents
• Read and interpret maps for routes
• Operate truck cab computers and telephones for information exchange
• Load and unload trucks and operate MHE equipment as needed
• Follow all safety rules per DOT and Midland policies
• Other duties as assigned

POSITION SUMMARY:

Drive any combination of vehicles with GVW of 26,001 or more pounds, to transport and deliver goods, or materials in palletized or packaged form. May require use of automated routing equipment. Requires Class B commercial driver's license. The truck wis a 26ft tandem axle straight truck with an automatic transmission. You will be asked to load the truck using a propane sit down forklift and the driver will be required to unload at the customer site.

The hours for this position are Monday through Friday starting at 6:00am.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:*

• Check vehicles before and after driving them to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
• Maintain logs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations.
• Obtain receipts or signatures when loads are delivered, and collect payment for services when required.
• Check all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate.
• Read bills of lading to determine assignment details.
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.
• Read and interpret maps in order to determine vehicle routes.
• Operate equipment such as truck cab computers and telephones to exchange necessary information with bases, supervisors, or other drivers.
• Load and unload trucks, or help others with loading and unloading, operating any powered MHE equipment on vehicles and using other equipment as necessary.
• Responsible for following all safety rules and policies as outlined by the Dept. of Transportation and communicated by Midland management.
• Other duties as assigned.
