Job Description

Food and food service delivery drivers are a critical part of the nation's food supply chain. They ensure that customers’ products arrive on time, in good condition, and they represent the company by building lasting customer relationships.

Schedule & Routes

• Schedule: 4–5‑day work week with dispatch between 2:00–6:00 AM; availability required Monday–Saturday. 40‑70 hours per week.
• Routes may include: Day, Night, Overnight Layover (day cab, stipend & per diem provided) or Transit routes.
• Flexible extra board role covering multiple route types while offering opportunities to establish more consistent routes based on operational needs.
• Sign On Bonus: $2,000. Any person who has worked for a Performance Food Group (PFG) owned company within the last six months is not eligible.

What You Will Do

• Provide flexible driver coverage when routes lack coverage to avoid route cuts. May link to a domicile yard versus OpCo location.
• Perform required safety checks (pre/post‑trip inspections) of tractor/truck and trailer in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations; report any safety issues or required repairs.
• Follow all DOT regulations and company safe‑driving guidelines and policies; immediately report safety hazards.
• Inspect trailer for proper loading and secure freight. Conduct count checks and verify customer invoices. Complete all required paperwork legibly and accurately.
• Ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are locked or secured at all times. Manage damaged goods and customer returns, complete related paperwork at shift end, and remove trash from trailers as required.
• Maintain daily record‑keeping and hours of service, complying with DOT, state, and company policies.
• Uphold overall safety standards and handle freight properly throughout the delivery process.
• Train newer drivers when route coverage is not required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
• 12+ months of commercial driving experience.
• Class A CDL license required.
• Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Meet PFG Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) requirements for the past three years.
• Pass pre‑employment drug test and PFG FMCSA Clearinghouse requirements.
• Pass road test.
• Able to secure new DOT Medical Card.
• Able to handle hand‑lift and use two‑wheeler, lift gate, and/or other equipment to move and stack product cases/freight weighing approximately 60‑90 pounds.
• Must be able to work the assigned schedule required for the position.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
