Job summary

Commercial Metals Company seeks a professional driver to join our logistics team in Baton Rouge. You will complete delivery paperwork, conduct inspections, and transport products to customers and jobsites with safety as a priority.

Training on ELDs, safety dashcams, and loading tasks will be provided to ensure on-time, compliant deliveries. The role requires a valid Class A CDL, 1 year of tractor-trailer experience, and the ability to pass DOT medical and drug testing.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL) required.
• Minimum 1 year verified tractor-trailer experience (3 years flatbed OTR preferred).
• Ability to pass DOT physicals and drug testing.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Complete delivery paperwork and communicate load or timing issues with dispatch, sales, and customers.
• Conduct daily pre-trip, inter-trip, and post-trip inspections of truck and cargo.
• Deliver products to customers, contractors, and jobsites within the region.
• Follow all safety rules and always wear required PPE.
• Inventory and inspect products to confirm quantity and condition.
• Load, secure, and deliver cargo safely and on time.
• Maintain vehicle service and repair logs in compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Operate vehicles using Electronic Logging Devices (ELD) and safety dashcams (training provided).
• Perform loading tasks including chaining, strapping, tarping, trailer hooking/unhooking, use of sideboard kits and safely ascending/descending of truck and/or trailer.
• Perform additional duties to ensure safe, compliant transportation per federal and state safety regulations.
• Work flexible hours and be available based on business needs.
