Job summary

Bell & Evans is seeking a dependable Transfer Jockey (Yard Jockey) for the 3rd shift in Fredericksburg, PA. Operate tractor-trailer combos to move trailers between docks, yards, and plants. CDL A with air brake required; 18+, English proficiency, and strong safety focus are essential.

The role involves securing trailers, monitoring reefers, logging movements, and maintaining yard organization. Overtime and weekend work may be required; training provided for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Valid CDL A and air-brake certification required.
• Must be at least 18 years old and legally eligible to work in the U.S.
• Ability to communicate in English and follow safety rules.
• Strong attention to detail and safe trailer handling.

Responsibilities

• Move loaded and empty trailers between docks, yards, plants, shops, and other locations.
• Back and pull trailers away from loading docks and stage them in yards.
• Move trailers throughout the yard as directed by Shipping and Supervisors.
• Maintain radio communication with Shipping and Transportation for instructions.
• Open/close trailer doors and secure trailers with locks or seals.
• Monitor refrigerated trailers and maintain proper temperature operation.
• Adjust refrigeration temperature and report shutdowns to the supervisor.
• Check reefer fuel levels and keep fuel above ½ tank.
• Perform routine safety checks on yard equipment and trailers.
• Document logs, records, and forms accurately.
• Keep trailers organized in the yard when not moving.
• Maintain clean, professional appearance inside and outside vehicles.
• Report accidents to Safety and Transportation managers with photos when required.
• Communicate effectively with the Transportation team and follow procedures.
