Job summary

Dayton Freight Lines is seeking qualified DPD drivers to transport freight between service centers and customers. Responsibilities include pre/post trip inspections, accurate document control, and safe operation of the tractor/trailer, with occasional forklift use.

Requirements include 2+ years of commercial driving with a valid Class A CDL HazMat/Tank, a current DOT medical card, no recent DUI, minimal moving violations, and English fluency.

Qualifications

• At least 23 years of age.
• At least 2 years of commercial driving experience with valid Class A CDL HazMat & Tank.
• Valid DOT Physical/Medical Card.
• No DUI or reckless citations in past 3 years.
• Less than 2 moving violations in past 3 years.
• Fluent in English.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Able to pass a drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Transport, load and unload freight between service centers and customers.
• Perform pre/post trip inspections on tractor and trailer.
• Document freight control processes accurately.
• Read maps, road signs, shipping papers and hazardous materials labels.
• Affix correct placards to vehicle when needed.
• Maintain cleanliness of company vehicle.
• Assist customers with shipping papers.
• Interact with internal/external customers.
• Operate forklift to unload/load when required.
• Participate in Dayton Freight training programs.
• Be available for irregular schedules and shift changes.
• Follow Dayton Freight Driver/Dockworker procedures.

Responsibilities

P&D Drivers are responsible for transporting, loading and unloading freight in a productive, safe and claims-free manner between our Service Centers and our customers.

• Perform pre and post trip inspections on the tractor and trailer that is being utilized
• Properly document all freight control processes
• Read and understand maps, road signs, shipping papers, hazardous materials markings and labeling identifications
• Affix correct placards to tractor/trailer when necessary
• Maintain cleanliness of company vehicle
• Assist customers in preparation of shipping papers
• Interact and converse with external/internal customers
• Safely operate a forklift to unload/ load products when indicated and needed
• Participate in Dayton Freight's training and improvement programs
• Be available for irregular work schedules, alternating work shifts and/or assignments
• Adhere to the operational procedures and guidelines contained in the Dayton Freight Driver/Dockworker Manual

Physical Demands

This position requires the ability to safely operate a commercial motor vehicle and perform physical tasks associated with driving, equipment inspections, and local pick-up and delivery operations.
