Dayton Freight Lines in Sioux Falls, SD seeks a CDL-A P&D Driver to transport freight between service centers and customers. Includes pre/post-trip inspections, safe handling, and accurate documentation.

Requirements include 2 years commercial driving, HazMat/Tank endorsements, DOT medical card, clean driving record, fluent English, and ability to pass a drug screen. Overtime after 40 hours and a comprehensive benefits package accompany the role.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 23 years old.
• 2 years of commercial driving experience.
• Valid Class A CDL with HazMat and Tank Endorsement.
• Valid DOT Medical Card.
• No DUI or reckless operations in past 3 years.
• Less than 2 moving violations in past 3 years.
• Fluent in English.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Able to pass a drug screen.

Responsabilités

• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections on the tractor and trailer.
• Document all freight control processes.
• Read maps, road signs, shipping papers, hazmat markings.
• Affix correct placards to tractor/trailer when necessary.
• Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle.
• Assist customers with shipping papers.
• Interact with internal and external customers.
• Operate a forklift to load/unload when required.
• Adhere to Dayton Freight’s procedures and training programs.

Responsibilities

P&D Drivers are responsible for transporting, loading and unloading freight in a productive, safe and claims-free manner between our Service Centers and our customers.

• Perform pre and post trip inspections on the tractor and trailer that is being utilized
• Properly document all freight control processes
• Read and understand maps, road signs, shipping papers, hazardous materials markings and labeling identifications
• Affix correct placards to tractor/trailer when necessary
• Maintain cleanliness of company vehicle
• Assist customers in preparation of shipping papers
• Interact and converse with external/internal customers
• Safely operate a forklift to unload/ load products when indicated and needed
• Participate in Dayton Freight’s training and improvement programs
• Be available for irregular work schedules, alternating work shifts and/or assignments
• Adhere to the operational procedures and guidelines contained in the Dayton Freight Driver/Dockworker Manual

Qualifications

Physical Demands

This position requires the ability to safely operate a commercial motor vehicle and perform physical tasks associated with driving, equipment inspections, and local pick-up and delivery operations.
