Job summary

ABF Freight, an ArcBest company, is seeking road drivers responsible for pickup and delivery of cargo trailers across long‑distance routes. You will operate road tractors, couple/uncouple trailers and perform pre-trip inspections.

The role requires a Class-A CDL with appropriate endorsements, a High School diploma, at least 1 year of tractor/trailer experience, and the ability to pass DOT drug screen and medical requirements. Schedule varies by location and may include nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma / GED required.
• 1 year of verifiable tractor/trailer experience; training eligible for candidates with less than 1 year.
• Class-A CDL with doubles/triples, tanker and hazardous materials endorsements.
• Minimum 21 years of age and a clean driving record; pass DOT drug screen and medical requirements.

Responsibilities

• Coupling and uncoupling trailers from tractors.
• Drive for long-distance routes.
• Inspect tractors/trailers and perform pre/post-trip checks.
• Duties and schedule vary by terminal/location.

Road Drivers are responsible for the pickup and delivery of cargo trailers to and from various long-distance destinations.

Responsibilities

• Coupling and uncoupling trailers from one another and from the tractor.
• Driving for an extended period of time.
• Performing various tasks ranging from check-in, tractor/trailer inspection, tractor set up and the pickup and delivery of cargo.
• Actual duties and schedule may vary depending on terminal location.

Requirements

Education:

• High School Diploma / GED, required

Experience:

• 1 year of verifiable tractor/trailer experience (Candidates with less than 1-year experience may be eligible for training).

Certifications:

• Class-A CDL with doubles/triples, tanker and hazardous materials endorsements.

Additional Requirements:

• Minimum 21 years of age.
• Good stable work record.
• Safe driving record (from MVR and previous employment).
• Be able to pass DOT pre-employment drug screen and meet DOT medical requirements.
• Shift days and hours required for this position vary by location and may include days, nights, and/or weekends. Being able to work the required hours at this location will be considered a minimum requirement.
