McLane is seeking CDL-A Driver Trainees to join our team. You will receive paid training, hands-on coaching, and support to become a successful McLane Driver. From day one you’ll earn competitive pay, with a strong benefits package and opportunities for advancement.

As a Trainee Component Driver, you will train with experienced Driver Trainers, learning every aspect of the role, including hitching, safety, DOT compliance, and on-road operations across local and regional routes.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Possess a Class A CDL.
• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Meet McLane's MVR and risk rating qualifications.
• Meet eligibility requirements in McLane Transfer and Promotion Policy.
• Ability and willingness to load/unload and deliver all products ordered by McLane customers.
• Read and comprehend labels, instructions, and bills of lading.
• Perform mathematical calculations to verify quantities of product.
• Communicate with customers, management, and teammates.
• Safely drive a tractor-trailer and operate related equipment.
• English reading/writing at a sufficient level for job tasks.

Responsibilities

• Learn every aspect of the Driver Trainee role under Driver Trainers.
• Maneuver tractor into position to attach trailer and secure lines.
• Operate truck safely in compliance with regulations and company policies.
• Inspect tractor-trailer equipment and submit DOT inspection reports.
• Use the Driver Delivery Handheld (DDH) to document deliveries and product temps.
• Ride with Driver Trainer to learn regulations and driving skills.
• Maintain driver logs according to DOT regulations.
• Assist in unloading and delivering products to customer premises.
• Provide customer service including on-time delivery and handling returns.
