Waste Management seeks a CDL Class A driver to transport medical waste from WMHS locations or customer sites to transfer or processing facilities. The role requires route planning, regulatory compliance, and meticulous paperwork.

The shift is Monday–Friday, starting at 6:00am, focusing on safety and customer service. This position supports WMHS operations and contributes to responsible waste handling and efficiency.

Formación

• 1 year of related experience driving large vehicles preferred.
• Must read, write, and speak English proficiently.
• CDL Class A license and ability to obtain a medical card.
• Mandatory immunizations and credentialing may be required by customers.

Responsabilidades

• Manage assigned routes ensuring medical waste transport is timely and compliant.
• Pickup and transport waste safely according to all applicable regulations.
• Plan daily schedule based on WMHS or customer needs using paperwork provided by supervisor or dispatcher.
• Communicate issues to supervisor or dispatcher for resolution.
• Ensure load is secured prior to operating vehicle on public highways.
• Complete paperwork legibly and accurately and return on debriefing for processing.
• Report any changes to pickups and keep route supervisor informed of deviations.
• Perform documented pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report defects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

I. Job Summary

Responsible for transporting waste from either a WMHS location or customer location, to a transfer location or processing location.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Manages assigned routes ensuring that medical waste is transported in a timely and accurate manner.
• Responsible for picking up and transporting waste safely according to all federal, state, and local rules and regulations
• Plans daily schedule based on WMHS or customer needs by reviewing daily paperwork, e.g., manifest, route sheets, previous VCR, etc. provided by Transportation Manager/Supervisor or Dispatcher.
• Communicates any issues to Transportation Manager/Supervisor and/or Dispatcher for resolution.
• Ensures load is secured prior to operating vehicle on public highway.
• Ensures that assigned paperwork is completed legibly, neatly, accurately, and completely and returned to Transportation Manager/Supervisor or Dispatcher, at the time of debriefing, for processing.
• Communicates with WMHS Transportation Manager/Supervisor and/or Dispatcher regarding any change to pickups. Ensures that Route Manager servicing the specific route is aware of any situations outside the norm in order to provide the highest level of customer service. Reports any problems/issues with accounts to the Transportation Manager/Supervisor and/or Dispatcher before the close of business each day.
• Performs a documented pre-trip inspection on vehicles prior to leaving yard to commence route. Performs a documented post-trip inspection on vehicles prior to being debriefed for the day. Reports any maintenance problems to Transportation Manager/Supervisor and/or Dispatcher for follow-up. Ensures all defects have been corrected prior to operating the vehicles again.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned.

III. Qualifications

A. Required Qualifications

• 1 year of related experience driving vehicles from at least 5 tons and completion of an accredited driving school is preferred
• Able to read, write, and speak English well enough to interact with the public, understand traffic signs, respond to official questions, and complete records or reports
• May require mandatory immunizations and credentialing based on customer requirements
• Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A or Class 1/A-Z license
• All CMV/CDL drivers must be able to obtain a medical card by a certified medical examiner

Field: This job operates in both inside garage, shop or gas plant conditions as well as in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity.
