Bulk Express Transport seeks a CDL-A Driver to safely operate tractor-trailer units, haul waste and materials between sites, transfer stations and landfills, including long-haul routes with overnight travel.

You will ensure on-time, damage-free delivery, full DOT/FMCSA compliance, and accurate hours logs with the ELD, while delivering courteous service. A valid CDL-A with tanker or HAZMAT endorsement is a plus; 2 years of verifiable experience required; willingness to travel overnight.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL; tanker or HAZMAT endorsement a plus.
• Minimum of 2 years verifiable Class A tractor-trailer driving experience; end-dump, walking-floor, roll-off or waste hauling experience preferred.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Must meet all DOT/FMCSA driver qualification requirements, including a valid medical certificate.
• Acceptable MVR and safety history per company/insurance standards.
• Must pass pre-employment drug/alcohol test and participate in DOT random testing.
• Willingness to be away from home overnight and work flexible schedules, including weekends.

JOB SUMMARY:

The CDL-A Driver safely operates company commercial motor vehicles to transport waste and other materials between customer sites, transfer stations, landfills and other destinations, including long-haul routes that may require overnight travel. This position is responsible for on-time, damage-free delivery, excellent customer service, and full compliance with DOT/FMCSA regulations and company safety policies. This position reports to the Driver Manager (or the Terminal Operations Coordinator at small terminals).

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Safely operates a tractor-trailer combination in compliance with all DOT/FMCSA regulations, state and local traffic laws, and company policies.
• Completes thorough pre-trip, en-route and post-trip inspections and accurate Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs); reports defects immediately.
• Accurately records hours of service using the electronic logging device (ELD) and stays within hours-of-service limits.
• Picks up and delivers loads on schedule according to dispatch instructions; communicates delays, issues or changes promptly to the Driver Manager.
• Ensures loads are properly secured, tarped and within legal weight limits before departure.
• Completes bills of lading, manifests, scale tickets and other shipping documents accurately and submits them on time.
• Follows customer site, transfer station and landfill rules, including speed limits, PPE and traffic-flow procedures.
• Maintains a professional image and provides courteous service to customers and site personnel.
• Keeps the assigned truck clean and in good working order; performs basic checks such as fluids, tires and lights.
• Reports all accidents, incidents, citations, injuries and cargo issues immediately in accordance with company policy.
• Participates in required safety training and meetings.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL); tanker or HAZMAT endorsement a plus.
• Minimum of 2 years of verifiable Class A tractor-trailer driving experience; end-dump, walking-floor, roll-off or waste hauling experience preferred.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must meet all DOT/FMCSA driver qualification requirements, including a valid DOT medical examiner's certificate.
• Acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR) and safety history that meets company and insurance standards.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and participate in the DOT random testing program.
• Working knowledge of hours-of-service rules, ELD use and load securement.
• Ability to be away from home overnight and work flexible schedules, including weekends, as required.
• Strong commitment to safety and good communication skills.

Physical Demands

This position requires the employee to sit for extended periods while driving and to climb in and out of the cab and onto trailer steps, catwalks and decks. The employee will regularly bend, stoop, kneel, reach overhead, and push, pull or lift up to 50 pounds when handling tarps, chains, straps, doors and equipment, and must meet DOT physical qualification standards. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to see, talk, and hear.

Working Conditions

This job is performed primarily in a commercial vehicle and at customer sites, transfer stations, landfills and truck stops, with exposure to all weather and road conditions, temperatures, noise, dust, odors and moving vehicles and equipment. Required personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn when outside the vehicle at job sites. The position involves overnight travel and irregular hours, including nights, weekends and holidays, within hours-of-service limits.
