Job summary

The Maryland Food Bank is seeking a CDL-A Driver to safely transport and deliver food and products to partner agencies across Maryland. The role supports warehouse operations, inventory, and food safety, with physical duties including lifting up to 75 pounds.

Candidates should have a CDL-A, a high school diploma, and a clean driving record. Training will cover safe vehicle operation and FIFO inventory practices, with a focus on community service and reliable customer interactions.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate Maryland Food Bank vehicles in compliance with all federal, state, and local transportation regulations.
• Transport and deliver food products to partner agencies, distribution sites, and community organizations throughout Maryland.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and promptly report any maintenance or safety concerns.
• Load, unload, and secure cargo to ensure the safe and efficient transportation of products.
• Verify delivery accuracy and complete all required transportation, delivery, and inventory documentation.
• Receive incoming food shipments and ensure products are properly staged, stored, and rotated using the FIFO (First In, First Out) inventory method.
• Operate manual and powered material handling equipment to move inventory weighing up to 75 pounds.
• Maintain compliance with all food safety, quality assurance, and occupational safety standards.
• Support warehouse operations, including inventory management, sanitation, and other duties as assigned to ensure efficient distribution activities.

The Maryland Food Bank (MFB) is a nonprofit, anti-hunger organization whose mission is to feed people, strengthen communities, and end hunger for more Marylanders. MFB does this work by expanding access to nutritious food while also seeking to eliminate the root causes of hunger.

MFB’s distributes food through a statewide network of community-based organizations from Maryland’s western mountains to its Eastern Shore. Last year, the Maryland Food Bank distributed enough food to provide the equivalent of more than 41 million meals, or about 114,000 meals every day. About the position:

The CDL-A Driver is responsible for safely transporting and delivering food and other products to Maryland Food Bank partner agencies and distribution sites throughout the state. This position also assists with warehouse operations, including receiving shipments, inventory management, and maintaining food safety standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

• One to two years of CDL driving experience.
• Experience in a warehouse, logistics, transportation, or distribution environment.
• Experience operating forklifts or other material handling equipment.
• Work is performed in a mixed environment including warehouse, office, partner-sites, and outdoor settings.
• Exposure to fluctuating temperatures, noise, and non-climate-controlled environments.

Pay Information:

• $26.00 per hour
