Qualifications

• At least 3 years of CDI, clinical, or coding experience required.
• Medical graduates must have 2+ years of clinical practice.
• Working knowledge of CDI review and query practices.
• Familiarity with compliant query standards and CDI policies.
• Understanding of documentation quality measures and risk adjustment.
• Knowledge of KPIs and productivity standards.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Strong ability to apply clinical knowledge to documentation reviews.

Responsibilities

• Conduct concurrent and retrospective reviews of inpatient records across service lines.
• Identify documentation gaps related to diagnoses and procedures.
• Formulate compliant CDI queries with professional, non-leading language.
• Follow up on queries and escalate per policy.
• Collaborate with Coding, Quality, Case Management, and leadership to resolve discrepancies.
• Promote best documentation practices with providers.
• Mentor Level I staff and share CDI workflows.
• Stay compliant with HIPAA and OU Health privacy standards.
