Job summary

The City of Benton Harbor is seeking a Community Development Block Grant Administrator to coordinate the federally funded CDBG program and related HUD activities. You will write grants, prepare reports, and work with City departments, agencies, and nonprofits to administer funds and ensure compliance.

You will monitor grants, maintain records, and support the HUD liaison role while developing applications and program progress reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Public Service, or Business Administration with preferred two years in Community Development.
• Two+ years of government finance and grant accounting experience preferred.
• Experience with federal grants (CDBG/HUD HOME) is highly desired.
• Experience communicating with people of various backgrounds and educational levels is required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the CDBG Program activities and related federal, state, and local programs.
• Assist Director as liaison to HUD and coordinate with City departments and agencies.
• Prepare annual reports, progress reports, and grant applications; monitor recipients and contracts.
• Maintain records and ensure compliance with HUD requirements and reporting systems.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Public Service, or Business Administration

Two (2) or more years of government finance and grant accounting experience

Experience with federal grants (CDBG/HUD HOME)

Experience communicating with diverse groups
