Job summary

City of Alexandria, VA's Department of Community and Human Services seeks a CCU Senior Therapist for the Adult Jail Services to provide crisis intervention, psychotherapy, intake evaluations, and risk assessments for inmates.

This full-time, on-site role collaborates with Detention Center staff, maintains clinical records, coordinates services, and supports treatment planning. A signing bonus of $3,000 is offered along with a strong benefits package and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, Education or related field.
• Licensure as LPC/LCSW/LSATP or Clinical Psychologist in VA or license eligible.
• At least two years of post-graduate clinical experience with substance use, psychiatric, and emotional disorders.

Responsibilities

• Provide crisis intervention and diagnostic evaluations.
• Deliver individual and group therapy sessions.
• Complete biopsychosocial intake evaluations and other clinical assessments.
• Conduct risk assessments and recommend treatment, security, and housing plans.
• Provide targeted case management for inmates and coordinate with external agencies.
• Offer consultations to Detention Center staff and other agencies.
• Maintain records per state and departmental standards.
• Pre-screen inmates for detention to psychiatric institutions.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
