MercyOne Clinton Medical Center in eastern Iowa is a Catholic, not-for-profit, full-service community health system. We are hiring a RN for the CCU on the 12 Hour Night Shift to deliver safe, high-quality care to critically ill patients, including ECMO cases, with a focus on compassionate, patient-centered outcomes.

You will perform initial assessments, develop and implement outcome-based plans, communicate with physicians and families, and supervise nursing staff.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in nursing required; BSN preferred.
  • Current Iowa RN license; IL license if working in IL.
  • BLS, Mandatory Reporter; ACLS within 12 months of hire.
  • TNCC and NVCI training within the stated timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts an initial assessment and identifies patient problems.
  • Develops and implements outcome-based care plans.
  • Evaluates patient progress and revises plans as needed.
  • Communicates clinical information to the care team for optimal outcomes.
  • Provides care to high-risk, critically ill patients including ECMO.
  • Leads and coordinates others in high-stress situations.

In addition to a wide range of traditional hospital services, MercyOne Clinton provides a continuum of care with specialized services in wound care, radiation oncology, dialysis, imaging, sleep disorders, therapy services, and skilled care. Schedule
  • 7:00 pm – 7:30 am, every third weekend and holiday rotation
POSITION PURPOSE

Provides and directs safe, effective and culturally competent care for high risk, critically acute patients with actual or potential life-threatening conditions. Through evidence-based practice, utilizes critical thinking to assess, plan, implement and evaluate outcome-based care of patients. Provides care to critically ill patients including cardiovascular and surgical patients. May assume responsibilities and accountability for assigned ECMO patients. Supervises and coordinates care provided to patients by the LPN, Patient Care Assistants and other nursing team members. Facilitates communication with physicians, patient and family, other departments and/or team members. Adheres to MercyOne's performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values of MercyOne.

Essential Functions
  • Conducts an initial assessment to gather data
  • Identifies patient problems and develops them into an outcome/goal-based plan of care
  • Implements the outcome/goal- based plan of care
  • Evaluates patient progress and revises the outcome/goal-based plan as needed
  • Communicates relevant clinical information to the team to optimize patient outcomes/goals
  • Demonstrates clinical competence
  • Based on principles of growth and development, provides care appropriate to the age-related needs of the patients served on his/her assigned unit
  • Collects, analyzes, interprets and applies age-specific data
  • Adheres to all safety, infection control and colleague health policies and procedures
  • Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate degree required, BSN preferred.
  • No experience required; critical care nursing experience preferred.
  • Current Iowa RN license, (current IL license if working in IL).
  • BLS, Mandatory Reporter. ACLS within 12 months of hire. Cardiac monitoring course and/or select units of advance Nursing / Critical Care Course or comparable training
  • TNCC
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (NVCI) within 6 months of hire
  • High language, intermediate to high math, high critical thinking ability.
  • Basic computer skills required
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people
  • Ability to work under pressure and with a large degree of independence and accountability
  • Ability to lead/direct others in a high stress situation/environment
