Qualifications
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required; may sign a GED agreement to obtain within 6 months.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Current Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) certification through a recognized organization (e.g., NHA).
  • BLS provider status at hire or within 6 months.
  • Effective communication with physicians, patients, and the public.
  • Basic keyboarding and computer skills.
  • Experience navigating electronic medical records (EMR) strongly preferred.
  • Preferred: 1 year’s working experience in a clinical or healthcare setting.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for examinations by taking vital signs, recording medical histories, and documenting chief complaints.
  • Assist providers during examinations and minor procedures.
  • Perform basic laboratory tests, specimen collection, and point-of-care testing.
  • Administer medications and injections as directed by the provider and within scope of practice.
  • Perform EKGs and other diagnostic tests as required.
  • Clean and sterilize medical instruments and maintain exam rooms.
  • Schedule patient appointments and manage calendars.
  • Verify patient information, insurance, and obtain necessary authorizations.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date patient records in the EHR system.
  • Handle phone calls, patient inquiries, and follow‑up communication.
  • Assist with billing and coding processes as needed.
  • Provide compassionate, patient‑centered care and education.
  • Cross‑train and provide coverage in staffing when additional assistance is needed.
  • Ensure proper labeling, handling, and transport of lab specimens and perform basic waived testing as permitted.
  • Maintain required certifications and pursue continuing education relevant to the role.
Physical Demands & Working Environment

Usual working space is a well‑ventilated area. Requires standing, walking, turning, bending, stooping, and lifting. Clear speech to communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members. Fine and gross motor skills. Environment may be stressful; ability to work under stressful conditions is necessary. Exposure to bloodborne pathogens, occasional radiation during radiology procedures, and dangerous chemicals (cleaning and disinfecting agents).
