Job summary

CompHealth in Bakersfield, CA is seeking an experienced physician leader to build a new ACGME fellowship program within a multi-ICU setting. The role requires critical care expertise, board certification, and a strong academic mindset.

The position offers a flexible block schedule (10–15 shifts/month, some nights) in a physician-owned, physician-led organization with 1099 contracting. Support teams handle licensing and interview coordination.

Qualifications

• Lead the creation of an ACGME fellowship program.
• Prior Program Director or Associate Program Director experience preferred.
• Board certification in Critical Care or Pulmonary/Critical Care required.
• Experience with a closed ICU model including Medical/Surgical, Cardiac, and Neurocritical Care units.
• Flexible block schedule with 10–15 shifts per month; some nights.
• Strong ICU procedural skills and bronchoscopy proficiency valued.
• Independent contractor 1099 arrangement; physician-owned/led organization.
• California license and academic mindset required.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with leadership to align with hospital goals.
• Coordinate interviews and licensing support for candidates.
• Provide expert bedside care with bronchoscopy as needed.
