Job summary

SMBC is seeking an experienced credit risk professional to join the Credit Portfolio Risk team as Vice President, CCAR Credit Stress Testing. Lead end-to-end wholesale stress testing for CCAR, DFAST, and capital planning, partnering with Credit Officers, Finance, and Model teams.

The role requires six+ years in wholesale credit risk stress testing and hands-on CCAR submission experience, with strong communication and leadership abilities for senior committees and risk governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related quantitative field. Master’s degree or CFA/FRM preferred.
• Six+ years of wholesale credit risk stress testing experience in a large/complex financial institution.
• Hands-on CCAR submission experience required; FR Y-14 knowledge preferred.
• Strong knowledge of wholesale credit risk models and stressed loss estimation.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end wholesale credit stress testing cycle and CCAR submission delivery, including data readiness, scenario implementation, model execution, and governance.
• Analyze stressed credit loss across portfolios; explain movements and key drivers to senior management.
• Collaborate with Finance, Officers, Model Development, and Technology to translate requirements into repeatable methodologies.
