Job summary

Group CBS Companies is seeking a Breaker Technician in production to repair, upgrade, and remanufacture electrical equipment from breakers to substations. You will read schematics, operate test equipment, and work on stored energy systems, both on-site and during emergencies.

The role requires strong electrical and mechanical skills, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and willingness to travel to job sites after training. High school or GED is required.

Qualifications

• Ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems and repair.
• Ability to maintain good housekeeping of designated work area.
• Ability to use measuring tools (vernier caliper, micrometer, tape measure, etc.)
• Ability to travel to some job sites if needed after being trained.
• Capable of lifting 50 pounds.
• Ability and willingness to read and study OEM manuals and technical literature.
• Mechanically inclined, must have your own tools.
• Detail oriented, great attitude, team player, well organized.

Responsibilities

• Takes electrical parts off a breaker to recondition them.
• Make sure electric parts work properly before putting them on a breaker.
• Supports onsite and emergency jobs when needed.

Job Title: ******** Breaker Technician

FLSA Status : Hourly, Non-Exempt, Full-Time

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for repairing, upgrading, reconditioning, and remanufacturing electrical equipment from a single circuit breaker to a complete substation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Cleans electrical parts.

• Removes and reinstalls electrical components on circuit breakers with documentation.

• Reads breaker evaluation and work order and performs the service the customer is requesting.

• Disassembles circuit breakers.

• Works safely on stored energy mechanisms.

• Troubleshoot and repairs circuit breakers.

• Reads manuals and follows detailed instructions on adjusting equipment.

May be modified from time to time. Other duties, tasks and work may be assigned

METRICS

Completes reconditioning of breakers in a timely manner based on experience.

Ensures the work area remains tidy.

Maintains records of all work performed including images of initial breakers received throughout the project.

Project and demand are oriented as defined by the objectives set forth by operations manager and measured based on meeting objectives, completion on time, accuracy and neatness of work, etc.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Not applicable. This position has no direct reports.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Occasional reaching/working overhead, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling

• Lifting requirements include occasional lifting up to 75 pounds, frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds and continuous lifting of up to 25 pounds.

EMPLOYEE EVALUATION SUMMARY

• Introductory -- Will be written at approximately 80 days after employment and will be used to determine whether employee has sufficiently met and performed the job requirements, and will indicate whether employment will continue

• Annual Reviews – Employee will be given a formal regular annual review, which assesses productivity and demonstrated business skills and accomplishments for the previous period.

WORK SCHEDULE

Your schedule will be coordinated with your direct supervisor, as needed.
