Job summary

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seeks entry-level Officers to join a nationwide force protecting borders and ensuring lawful entry. This role offers incentives, a structured career ladder, and comprehensive benefits.

New recruits can receive substantial annual incentives for select duty locations, with GS-9 base salaries and progression through higher grades. Training is provided at the CBP academy, and duties include inspections, enforcement, and preventing illicit activity.

Qualifications

• Experience: at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level.
• Experience enforcing import/export and shipping regulations.
• Ability to make rapid, accurate judgments on enforcement actions.
• Graduate education may substitute for experience in some cases.

Responsibilities

• Enforce customs, immigration, and related laws and regulations.
• Facilitate lawful trade and travel.
• Inspect individuals and conveyances as part of enforcement.
• Determine admissibility of entrants to the United States.
• Prevent illegal entry and contraband through proper enforcement.
