Job summary

V2X Inc. is seeking an Aircraft Mechanic, ALSS (AME) to perform on- and off-aircraft maintenance on egress and environmental systems, including scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, servicing, launch and recovery, corrosion control, and inspection with minimal supervision.

You will operate ground support equipment, support flight line operations, and maintain safety by proper FOD prevention, tool control, and documentation; travel to off-site detachments (min 10%) and obtain a DoD CAC within

Qualifications

  • Experience in ejection seat maintenance and component repairs.
  • Familiar with Navy technical publications and OOMA/NALCOMIS.
  • Qualified in removal/replacement of ejection seats, canopies, and explosive devices.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain assigned aircraft per procedures and safety standards.
  • Perform egress system maintenance for T-45 aircraft.
  • Inspect and replace seats, canopies, and explosive devices; rigging where required.
  • Maintain environmental control systems on aircraft.
  • Operate Ground Support Equipment and assist with aircraft movement.
  • Document maintenance actions in appropriate systems and forms.
  • Travel to off-site detachments (minimum 10% travel).
  • Obtain and maintain a DoD Common Access Card within 6 months.

Responsibilities
Position Summary

The Aircraft Mechanic, ALSS (AME) performs on- and off-aircraft maintenance on egress and environmental systems, including scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, servicing, launch and recovery, corrosion control, and inspection with minimal supervision. This role also operates ground support equipment and flight line vehicles, assists with aircraft/equipment movement, and supports flight line foreign object prevention (FOD) walks. A strong customer service orientation is essential.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Maintain assigned aircraft in accordance with customer, manufacturer, and company procedures
  • Perform all on- and off-equipment egress system maintenance for T-45 aircraft
  • Remove, transport, inspect, repair, and reinstall ejection seats
  • Inspect, repair, and clean seat harnesses
  • Inventory, store, remove, and replace Cartridge Actuated Devices (CADs) and Propulsion Actuated Devices (PADs) explosive items
  • Maintain the environmental system for T-45 aircraft
  • Maintain and inspect canopy and canopy explosive devices
  • Maintain and inspect the On-Board Oxygen Generating System (OBOGS)
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled aircraft on- and off-equipment maintenance
  • Perform aircraft corrosion control procedures, including washing, wiping down, polishing, and vacuuming
  • Operate Ground Support Equipment (GSE), flight line vehicles, and other support equipment as required
  • Drive tugs to tow equipment and aircraft
  • Document maintenance actions on aircraft forms, Visual Information Display Systems (VIDS)/Maintenance Action Forms (MAF), or within Optimized Organizational Maintenance Activity (OOMA) systems
  • Order aircraft and equipment parts
  • Supervise and/or assist with aircraft/equipment movement and flight line FOD prevention walks
  • Maintain good housekeeping, tool control, and FOD awareness/prevention practices; observe safety protocols at all times
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Travel to off-site detachments as required (minimum 10% travel)
  • Obtain and maintain a security clearance within 6 months of start date
Qualifications
Experience & Training
  • Minimum 3 years of experience within the last 6 years in ejection seat maintenance
  • Minimum 3 years of recent system component repair experience
  • Graduate of a military or factory-equivalent ejection seat course of instruction
  • Working familiarity with Navy technical publications
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct on-the-job training and maintain personnel seat/cockpit safety checkout training records
  • Qualified in the removal and replacement of ejection seats, canopies, and explosive devices at both \"I\" and \"O\" maintenance levels
  • Qualified in the rigging of explosive linkages/devices for seats and canopies
  • Experienced in performing flow checks on egress systems
  • Experienced in fitting and rigging aircraft canopy, canopy drive, and locking mechanisms at both \"I\" and \"O\" levels
  • Experience with environmental control systems
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • In-depth knowledge of aircraft safety directives
  • In-depth knowledge of flight line operations, including aircraft/vehicle movement and associated safety hazards
  • In-depth knowledge of common and special aircraft tools and test equipment
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply schematic diagrams, drawings, charts, and technical publications
  • Working knowledge of basic computer systems; OOMA experience preferred
  • Willingness and ability to work with job-required hazardous materials
  • Willingness and ability to conduct specialty on-the-job training
  • Professional, courteous, and effective communication with customers and company personnel
Certifications & Requirements
  • Capable of obtaining Non-Nuclear Ordnance Certification
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Current civilian driver's license; ability to obtain and maintain a Government flight line driver's license
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) CAC (Commons Access Card)
Physical Demands

This position is typically performed in a maintenance hangar and outdoor flight line environment, requiring physical movements and postures associated with on-aircraft/equipment activities, including climbing, standing, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching, extensive walking, and working in tiring or uncomfortable positions. Must be able to regularly lift 35 pounds unassisted and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds unassisted. Requires close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

Conditions vary from minimal physical discomfort to exposure to inclement weather, including temperature extremes, wind, and rain. May involve exposure to high-noise environments, fumes, airborne particles, and electrical shock hazards.
