Job summary

DoorDash is hiring a Causal Machine Learning Engineer to build the causal ML foundation for New Verticals. You will join a senior pod of causal ML experts to deploy uplift, treatment effect, and counterfactual evaluation models across a large-scale consumer marketplace.

You will work with ML engineers, economists, data scientists, product managers, and business leaders to connect experimentation with production decisioning and improve ranking, promotions, and growth decisions.

Qualifications

• Deep practical experience with causal inference, econometrics, experimentation, or causal ML.
• Experience shipping models or decision systems in production at scale.
• Strong judgement on randomized vs observational methods and model-based decisions.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and productionize causal ML systems that influence marketplace decisions across New Verticals.
• Develop uplift and heterogeneous treatment effect models for lifecycle value, promotions and retention.
• Create counterfactual evaluation frameworks for ranking, recommendations, search and promotions.
• Connect experimentation data with ML decisioning to improve tradeoffs when experiments are slow or noisy.
• Design surrogate metrics and early indicators to accelerate development while safeguarding long-term health.
• Collaborate with economists and analytics leaders to select appropriate causal methods.
• Translate causal models into production components affecting ranking, targeting, and inventory-aware discovery.
