Job summary

The Archdiocese of Chicago is seeking an in-house substitute teacher for Catholic Elementary and Middle Schools. The substitute will monitor students and implement lesson plans when the regular teacher is absent, maintaining a positive learning environment.

The position offers two to three days per week and long-term substitute options, with daily pay options described in the posting. Qualified candidates bring licensure and remote teaching experience to our diverse classrooms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education or comparable field required.
• Experience teaching through remote learning platforms.
• 1 to 3 years teaching experience preferred.
• Valid state teaching licensure accepted (out-of-state licenses allowed).
• High school diploma required.

Responsibilities

• Implement regularly scheduled teacher’s lesson plans or consult with staff if not provided.
• Maintain a clean, respectful classroom and follow school procedures.
• Maintain attendance records and notes on incidents or inquiries.
• Follow classroom and campus rules and ensure student safety.
• Work with diverse student populations across grade levels.
• Communicate with students, parents/guardians, and staff as needed.
• Support the mission of the school.
