Job summary

Word on Fire Catholic Ministries in Elk Grove Village, IL, is seeking an Editor-in-Chief Assistant for Evangelization & Culture to support research and outreach to top writers and speakers for the Journal, Podcast, and The College Beat. You will help elevate E&C Online and ensure high-quality, engaging content across platforms.

You will build relationships with Catholic and broader media, recruit high-level guests, and coordinate publicity while maintaining consistent tone and editorial

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in English, writing, journalism, or theology.
• Strong experience with writing and editing.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to ensure consistency in tone, voice and formatting across diverse content types.
• Ability to perform fact-checking on various subjects, statistics and citations.
• Professional verbal and written communication skills for liaising between writers, editors, and both internal and external partners.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with both internal and external business partners.
• Commitment to the mission of Word on Fire.

Responsibilities

• Assist Editor-in-Chief with research and outreach to high-level writers and speakers for the Journal, Podcast, and with E&C Online.
• Foster professional relationships and create efficient processes for connecting writers and guests.
• Cultivate relationships with Catholic and non-Catholic media for collaboration.
• Periodically organize integration of high-level recruits into marquee spots on E&C Online.
• Coordinate publicity and distribution of high-level guest essays and podcasts.
• Assist Editor-in-Chief with topic selection and recruitment for The College Beat.
• Research topics and younger writers for E&C Online, Journal, and Podcast.
• Develop nationwide and international relationships with university officials and Catholic centers.
• Research and suggest ways for students to access the Institute and Journal at affordable prices.
• Write for the E&C Journal and E&C Online; collaborate on podcast guest outreach.
• Assist with copyright permissions, writer payments, meetings, and scheduling.
