Job summary

Serco Limited in Durham is seeking a Catholic Chaplain to provide vital pastoral and spiritual care to detainees, supporting wellbeing, dignity, and positive outcomes. The role involves leading Catholic services, offering one-to-one guidance, and collaborating with security, healthcare, and safer custody teams.

You will be part of a multi-faith chaplaincy team, engaging with community partners to support reintegration, trauma-informed care, and chaplaincy outreach.

Qualifications

• Endorsement from a Roman Catholic Diocesan Bishop to minister in the setting.
• Theological qualifications or Catholic Certificate in Religious Studies are required or beneficial.
• Experience delivering pastoral care and religious services, ideally in a secure or institutional environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide pastoral care and support spiritual welfare of detainees and colleagues.
• Deliver Catholic services and facilitate access to religious observance and holy days.
• Offer faith-based guidance within a multi-faith environment.
• Support detainees through bereavement, crisis, and resettlement challenges.
• Collaborate with security, healthcare, and safer custody teams.
