Job description

Cath Lab Special Procedure Technologist

Location: Oregon City, Oregon

Pay Rate: $55.92 – $64.62 per hour

Position Overview

Our client, a major healthcare organization, is seeking a Cath Lab Special Procedure Technologist for an onsite, permanent position in Oregon City, Oregon. The role supports cardiac catheterization and special procedure work in an invasive cardiovascular laboratory. This position suits a technologist who is confident in a procedural environment, calm during emergent cases, and precise with equipment and documentation. It offers permanent employment with a well‑established cardiovascular service and genuine technical depth.

Key Responsibilities
  • You will prepare the catheterization laboratory for scheduled and emergent procedures, verifying that imaging equipment, hemodynamic monitoring, injectors, defibrillators, and emergency supplies are functional, calibrated, and ready before each case.
  • You will provide scrub, circulating, and monitoring support during diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures and other special procedures, maintaining sterile technique, anticipating physician needs, and managing catheters, wires, and devices accurately throughout the case.
  • You will operate fluoroscopic imaging equipment within your scope, applying radiation safety principles rigorously through collimation, shielding, and dose minimization, and you will monitor and record hemodynamic data, recognizing and reporting significant changes promptly.
  • You will monitor patient status throughout procedures in coordination with nursing and anesthesia colleagues, respond appropriately to arrhythmias and emergent events, document procedural data accurately, and manage post‑procedure room turnover, equipment cleaning, and inventory replenishment.
  • You will maintain accurate procedural documentation including case logs, device and implant records, and radiation dose recording, and you will support inventory management for catheters, wires, balloons, and stents, tracking consignment stock and expiry dates so that cases are never delayed by a missing component.
Requirements
  • A relevant credential is required, which may include ARRT registration in Radiography, RCIS, or RCES, together with any Oregon credential needed for practice. Graduation from an accredited program in radiologic technology or cardiovascular technology is required.
  • Prior experience in a cardiac catheterization laboratory or invasive cardiovascular setting is required. Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required at the time of hire.
  • You must demonstrate competent cardiac rhythm interpretation, sterile technique, and familiarity with hemodynamic monitoring systems. The role requires the ability to wear lead for extended procedures, assist with patient transfers, and participate in call coverage.
Preferred Qualifications
  • RCIS or RCES certification is strongly preferred where not already held as the primary credential. Experience with structural heart procedures, peripheral vascular intervention, or electrophysiology support is highly valued.
  • Familiarity with multiple imaging and hemodynamic platforms, experience with device implantation cases, comfort working with vendor clinical representatives, and prior experience precepting students or newer technologists are all advantageous.
  • Comfort with call rotation and weekend coverage is valued in a service that responds to emergent cardiac cases around the clock. Experience working effectively alongside vendor clinical representatives during procedures, and familiarity with more than one imaging platform, are both advantageous.
Compensation and Benefits

This is a permanent, full‑time position paying an hourly rate in the range of $55.92 to $64.62, based on experience and credentials held.

You will join an experienced cardiovascular team in a well‑equipped laboratory with a broad procedural case mix. The permanent position offers stability alongside continued development of a specialized, highly marketable skill set, with exposure to advanced procedures as the service evolves.
