Job summary

Memorial Hermann is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to perform radiologic film procedures and assist physicians during invasive radiology procedures. The role requires careful adherence to radiation safety and patient positioning, with responsibility for data entry and image quality.

Candidates should have a graduate degree in Radiologic Technology, ARRT-R registration, and BLS/ALS certification; Texas MRT licensure is required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
• Current license as Radiologic Technologist and ARRT-R registration; Texas MRT licensure required.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS).

Responsibilities

• Performs special/invasive radiology procedures on patients ensuring compliance with radiation safety procedures; prepares patients, explains procedures, administers contrast when necessary, positions patients, selects imaging techniques, ensures image quality.
• Enters and monitors patient data.
• Performs quality assurance on radiology equipment; assists with accreditation processes.
• Identifies and reports accidents, equipment malfunctions to department management.
• Takes emergency call within the department.
• Upholds Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budget and time constraints.
• Supports professional growth, acts as mentor and resource to staff.
• Demonstrates compassionate, personalized patient experiences.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an accreditedschool of Radiologic Technology

Licenses/Certifications:

• Certified in Basic or Advanced Life Support

• Current license or temporary licenseby the Texas Medical Board (MRT), required

• Registered Radiology Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-R)

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

• Ability to lift and/or maneuver patients in conjunction with others in order to perform job functions

Principal Accountabilities

• Performs special/invasive radiology procedures on patients ensuring compliance with all radiation safety procedures: Prepares patients for exam, explains procedure, administers contrast when necessary, positions patients for the exam, selects appropriate imaging techniques, and ensures technical quality of the images.

• Enters and monitors patient data.

• Performs quality assurance on radiology equipment. May assist with initial and renewal application for ACR and other accreditation.

• Identifies and reports any accidents, complaints or equipment malfunction to department management.

• Takes emergency call within the department.

• Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.

• Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
