Job summary

MedStar Health in Maryland seeks a Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist to support physicians in invasive procedures at MedStar Franklin Square Hospital.

You will manage patient care before, during, and after procedures, ensure equipment readiness, and uphold infection control while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Completion of the two-year Cardiovascular Technologist training program from an accredited college.
• Registration as a RCIS with Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
• CPR certification required within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assists physicians in angiographic, therapeutic, and interventional imaging procedures, including cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, and ablation. Administers contrast media, monitors patients, and provides pre‑ and post‑procedural care.
• Prepares and injects contrast media under physician guidance while supporting catheter and guidewire placement.
• Conducts hemodynamic monitoring, records vital signs, and accurately enters patient and supply information into hospital systems.
• Educates patients, prepares sterile trays, monitors catheter insertion sites, and provides discharge instructions.
• Ensures proper functioning of Cath Lab equipment, adheres to infection control protocols, and manages inventory for supplies and emergency equipment.

The cardiovascular invasive specialist coordinates and assists the physician with routine to complex invasive diagnostic and therapeutic cardiovascular procedures. Responsible for patient management prior to, during and after the procedure. The incumbent in this position will work in a multidisciplinary lab, working with a variety of service lines, in addition to diagnostic cardiac procedures.

Qualifications:

• Completion of the two year Cardiovascular Technologist training program from an accredited college (required) additional education in basic sciences (preferred)
• Registration as Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) with Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
• CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation required within 90 days of hire.
