Job summary

Blanchard Machinery Company seeks an experienced Heavy Equipment Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of CAT machinery across South Carolina locations. You will work on off-highway trucks, dozers, excavators, loaders, and more, performing preventive maintenance and on-call service.

You will read electrical and hydraulic schematics, use diagnostic tools, and operate lifting devices while ensuring high safety and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Must have diesel equipment maintenance experience and ability to troubleshoot and repair diesel systems.
• Reading electrical and hydraulic schematics and maintenance/service manuals is required.
• Ability to operate lifting devices and use diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, diagnose and repair a variety of heavy equipment including off-highway trucks, dozers, excavators, loaders, graders, and telehandlers.
• Disassemble, inspect, determine parts, and reassemble to factory specifications.
• Perform preventive maintenance and inspections; complete service reports accurately and on time.
• Adhere to all safety standards and procedures; interact with customers to ensure quality service.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, diagnose and repair a variety of heavy equipment, such as: Off-highway Trucks, Compactors, Dozers, Excavators, Wheel and Backhoe Loaders, Graders, Skid Steer Loaders and Telehandlers.


• Accurately disassemble, inspect, determine parts needed and reassemble to factory specifications


• Accurately perform preventive maintenance, test equipment and conduct inspections to ensure proper operation


• Operate lifting devices


• Order, exchange and return parts for assigned jobs in timely manner


• Demonstrate proper use of service information systems


• Complete service reports and all other paperwork accurately and on-time


• Performs all tasks by adhering to and following all applicable and required safety standards and procedures at all times


• Ensure total customer service through direct customer interactions.


• May perform other related duties as requested and/or assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.


• Minimum of 1 year-experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing diesel equipment


• Knowledge of troubleshooting techniques and proper repair procedures.


• Able to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics, operating and maintenance service manuals.


• Working knowledge of equipment operation and associated operating systems.


• Ability to operate lifting devices.


• Ability to use diagnostic equipment


• Familiarization of electronic cables, connections, and sensors.


• A demonstrated commitment to accuracy, organization and ability to prioritize tasks is required.


• Previous experience on CAT equipment is a plus.

Working Conditions

• The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside (non-climate controlled) and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.


• Required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to injury and/or hazardous materials.


• Job requires standing, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, twisting, turning, lifting.


• Physical use of a broad variety of tools and machines in order to maintain, troubleshoot and repair equipment.


• Must be able to lift varied weight.


• Seeing, reading, and writing to complete job responsibilities.


• Use of computer and other forms of technology to complete job responsibilities.
