Job summary

Wolfgang Puck Catering, part of Compass Group USA, seeks a Catering Pastry Chef based in our Houston Commissary to craft high-quality pastries and desserts for B&I dining programs and large events.

The ideal candidate thrives on creativity, precision, and collaboration, elevating pastry concepts while upholding food safety, quality, and presentation standards.

Qualifications

• Experience preparing pastries, desserts, and baked goods in a high-volume culinary, bakery, catering, hotel, restaurant, or commissary environment.
• Knowledge of pastry techniques, baking methods, ingredient functionality, and dessert presentation.
• Ability to manage multiple production priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
• Understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/move product and supplies as needed.
• Culinary or pastry education, certification, or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience supporting catering operations, commissary production, or large-scale events.
• Familiarity with high-volume production planning and batch preparation.
• Experience creating specialty desserts, plated presentations, and seasonal menu offerings.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, bake, and finish a wide variety of pastries and desserts for catering events and B&I accounts.
• Support production needs for large-scale off-premise events with timely execution and quality.
• Collaborate with culinary leadership to develop seasonal desserts and event-specific items.
• Maintain recipes, production standards, and presentation guidelines.
• Assist with production planning, inventory management, and waste minimization.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and HACCP standards.
• Monitor product quality from prep through packaging and service.
• Assist with ordering, receiving, and proper storage of pastry ingredients.
• Contribute to a positive, inclusive, team-oriented kitchen environment.
• Assist with training and mentoring team members as needed.

Job Summary

At Wolfgang Puck Catering, we believe exceptional desserts create memorable experiences. As a Catering Pastry Chef based in our Houston Commissary, you will play a key role in producing high-quality pastry and dessert offerings that support Business & Industry (B&I) dining programs and large-scale off-premise catered events.

This position is ideal for a culinary professional who enjoys creativity, precision, and collaboration while contributing to a dynamic culinary team. You will help bring innovative pastry concepts to life while maintaining the highest standards of quality, consistency, food safety, and presentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, bake, and finish a wide variety of pastries, desserts, breads, and specialty baked goods for catering events and B&I accounts.
• Support production needs for large-scale off-premise events, ensuring timely execution and consistent quality.
• Collaborate with culinary leadership to develop seasonal desserts, specialty menu items, and event-specific offerings.
• Maintain established recipes, production standards, and presentation guidelines.
• Assist with production planning, inventory management, and ingredient utilization to minimize waste.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and HACCP standards.
• Monitor product quality throughout preparation, packaging, transportation, and service.
