Job summary

Chartwells Higher Ed, part of Compass Group USA, is seeking a Catering Manager in Los Angeles to supervise the catering department, train associates, oversee event set‑ups, and direct temporary staff alongside daily duties. You will ensure top‑tier service, including setup, service, and breakdown for campus events.

Responsibilities include event supervision, menu collaboration with the Chef, labor and food cost tracking, and maintaining excellent client relationships.

Qualifications

• 2 years of food service experience including 1 year at the management level.
• Experience in restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, education, military, health care, and/or related food service operations.
• Catering experience is required.
• Knowledge of food trends, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation.
• Financial, budgetary, accounting and computational skills.
• Proficient in MS Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
• ServSafe Certification.

Responsibilities

• Supervises all catering events.
• Oversees catering operations, logistics, sanitation, and facility-related activities.
• Works with the Chef in creating menus.
• Trains catering associates in service techniques, menu presentation, and customer service.
• Tracks labor and food costs for each event.
• Maintains client relationships and oversees communications with clients and associates.
• Assists in all foodservice-related activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
