Job summary

Northwood University Dining Services, Midland, MI, is seeking a Catering Chef to lead culinary execution for campus events—from student functions to donor dinners and special occasions. You will develop menus, oversee catering operations, and work with a team to deliver exceptional service.

We value organized, adaptable chefs with a passion for culinary excellence, hospitality, and team development. This is a hands-on, leadership role at Northwood University.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional culinary experience
• Previous culinary leadership or management experience
• Experience with high-volume foodservice, catering, and special events
• Experience creating diverse menus, including vegetarian, vegan, and allergen-friendly offerings
• Proficiency in inventory management, purchasing, and foodservice ordering systems
• Passion for developing team members and delivering exceptional guest experiences
• Culinary Arts degree preferred
• ServSafe certification required

Responsibilities

• Direct food production, presentation, and service for conferences, banquets, and campus events.
• Ensure exceptional food quality, guest satisfaction, and hospitality standards.
• Maintain compliance with food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety requirements.
• Develop event menus and ensure accommodations for dietary and allergen needs.
• Assist in managing catering inventory, purchasing, and food cost controls.
