Job summary

Medical Center Health System in Odessa, TX, seeks a coordinator for patient meal service across units. You will manage menu selections, tray assembly, delivery and pickup, and handle special requests while ensuring staff are trained and properly staffed to provide service.

You will communicate patient nutrition needs and diet modifications to Nursing and Food & Nutrition Services, ensuring safety and accuracy of meals for modified diets and standards of care.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Experience in health care environment is desirable but not required.
• Proficient in basic mathematical computations.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient meal service on assigned units (menu selections, tray assembly, tray delivery and pickup).
• Ensure Catering Associates are adequately trained and units are staffed to provide service.
• Relay patient food issues/concerns between Food & Nutrition Services and Nursing.

Position Summary

Responsible for coordinating patient meal service on all units of assigned teams, e.g., menu selections, tray assembly, tray delivery and pick up, special requests and needs, in-between meal food delivery. Ensure Catering Associates are adequately trained, and units are properly staffed to provide service. Ensuring communication of patient food issues/concerns are relayed between Food & Nutrition Services and Nursing. Interacts with Nursing in regard to patient nutrition needs or requirements. React accurately and effectively to all changes to ensure efficient timing of services, accuracy of physician’s ordered modified diets. Is familiar with dietary restrictions on special, modified diets to ensure optimal food preferences are met within guidelines of diet order limitations. Responsible for quality service reflected in internal or external patient satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or equivalent required upon hire or transfer to the department. Must have the ability to read, write and speak English, follow written and verbal instructions and complete simple computational skills.
• Training and Experience: Experience in health care environment is desirable but not required.

Unusual Physical Demands And Working Conditions

• Exposure to loud noise, slippery and wet surfaces, which require safety equipment. Frequently exposed to moving objects. Rarely exposed to hazardous material chemicals, vibration, potential electrical hazard, potential burns, requiring special clothing and/or safety equipment.
