Job summary

Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Catering Assistant to join the Leazes Wing Bistro team at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. The role supports out-of-hours service for staff, working 26 hours per week in shifts from 06:30 to 15:00.

You will prepare and serve hot meals and deli options, handle cash, and ensure high standards of hygiene and food safety. Collaboration with chefs, service staff and colleagues is essential, with opportunities to contribute to patient and staff dining

Qualifications

• Essential: Level 2 Food Hygiene Qualification.
• Desirable: Allergen Awareness Qualification.
• Desirable: Full Clean Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Preparation and service of a range of food items out of hours including hot meals and deli options.
• Work closely with catering team, service staff and chefs.
• Cash handling and food/beverage service.
• Ensure cleanliness and compliance with hygiene standards and Food Safety regulations.
• Support in maintaining allergens information and hygiene documentation.
