Job summary

Halliburton Energy Services in Houston, TX seeks a Category Specialist/Senior Category Specialist to lead strategic sourcing for assigned categories. You will analyze spend, negotiate with suppliers, and drive cost reduction while coordinating with Category Managers and cross-functional teams.

Strong technical manufacturing knowledge (forging, casting, machining, welding) and market analysis experience are valued as you contribute to supplier governance and contract management.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Science, Marketing, Business, or Supply Chain, plus 3+ years related experience.
• Certification as a Supply Chain Professional preferred.

Responsibilities

• Under broad direction, support one or more categories and implement strategic sourcing.
• Contribute to assessment of current market situations and identify opportunities.
• Analyze spend, supplier performance, and market trends.
• Identify cost reduction and value engineering opportunities.
• Support RFQs, RFPs, supplier negotiations, and contract management.
• Demonstrate technical manufacturing expertise (forging, casting, machining, welding).
• Develop cost models and support global supply chain risk management.
• Plan and execute improvement actions with users and suppliers.
• Negotiate with suppliers and prepare contracts under Category Manager guidance.
• Recommend value-added projects and train category teams.
• Interface between business and suppliers to resolve issues.
• May represent Category Manager on teams and councils.
• Participate in supply chain governance and performance management.

Job Duties

• Under broad direction, may support one or more related categories as directed by Portfolio and Category Leadership. Implement strategic sourcing and category strategies in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Contribute to assessment of current market situations and identification of opportunities.
• Analyze spend, supplier performance, and market trends.
• Identify cost reduction and value engineering opportunities.
• Support RFQs, RFPs, supplier negotiations, and contract management.
• Technical manufacturing expertise (forging, casting, machining, welding)

• Contribute to detailed planning and execution of improvement actions with users and suppliers.
• Negotiates with suppliers and prepares contracts and agreements under the direction of Category Manager.

• Act as an interface between business and supplier for category, resolving category issues.
• May represent the Category Manager on teams and councils, as assigned.
• Participate in supply chain governance and performance management activities.

Qualifications

• Skills are typically acquired through completion of an undergraduate degree in Engineering, Science, Marketing, Business, or Supply Chain Management or similar discipline and a minimum of 3 years of related experience.
• Certification as a Supply Chain Professional preferred.
