Job summary

Terrestrial Energy, a US developer of advanced nuclear reactors, seeks a Category Buyer – Nuclear Services to execute daily purchasing for IMSR projects. You will issue POs, track deliveries, and maintain supplier records while ensuring regulatory compliance with NRC, CNSC, and export controls.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4–7 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or buying, including nuclear industry experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • Familiarity with NRC, CNSC, and 10 CFR export controls.
  • Experience issuing and tracking purchase orders and working with suppliers.
  • Experience with ERP or procurement systems (e.g., Oracle SCM, SAP Ariba, or Coupa).
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, issue, and track purchase orders in accordance with requisitions, pricing, and delivery requirements.
  • Coordinate with suppliers on order confirmations, delivery schedules, and documentation; follow up on delays or discrepancies.
  • Support compliance with nuclear regulatory requirements and export controls in day-to-day purchasing activities.
  • Maintain procurement records, supplier files, and PO documentation in ERP systems.
  • Work with Engineering, Quality, and Project teams to confirm specifications and delivery timelines.
  • Assist with collecting supplier documentation for the Approved Suppliers List (ASL).
  • Ensure accurate documentation and timely communication with internal stakeholders.

Come join us at Terrestrial Energy, a US developer of advanced, Generation IV nuclear reactors. We are growing our workforce to develop and deploy our Integral Molten Salt Reactor (IMSR) small modular nuclear plant to provide cost-competitive, clean firm heat and power to industry.

The Company has recently completed a merger creating a publicly listed operating company (NASDAQ “IMSR”), to secure the capital resources for our next growth phase. With the current alignment of US Federal and State government, as well as industry interest in Small Modular Reactor (SMR) and advanced reactor technologies such as Terrestrial Energy’s IMSR, there is today a unique and compelling opportunity to participate in the execution of the company’s growth business plan.

The Category Buyer – Nuclear Services, reporting directly to the Procurement Manager, is primarily responsible for executing day-to-day purchasing activities in support of the Company’s nuclear projects, including issuing purchase orders, tracking deliveries, and maintaining supplier documentation. The role supports procurement process discipline and regulatory compliance under the direction of the Procurement Manager.

Other Responsibilities Include:
Purchase order execution
  • Prepare, issue, and track purchase orders in accordance with approved requisitions, pricing, and delivery requirements.
Supplier coordination
  • Coordinate with suppliers on order confirmations, delivery schedules, and documentation, and follow up to resolve delays or discrepancies.
Regulatory and export control support
  • Support compliance with applicable nuclear regulatory requirements (including NRC and CNSC), export control regulations, Title 10 Code of Federal Regulations, in day-to-day purchasing activities.
Documentation and record keeping
  • Maintain accurate procurement records, supplier files, and purchase order documentation in the Company’s procurement and ERP systems.
Cross-functional support
  • Work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Project teams to confirm specifications, delivery timelines, and any special handling or documentation requirements.
Supplier qualification support
  • Assist with collecting supplier documentation and information in support of the Company’s Approved Suppliers List (ASL) process.

Requirements

  • Experience issuing and tracking purchase orders and working with suppliers.
  • Experience with ERP or procurement systems (e.g., Oracle SCM, SAP Ariba, or Coupa).
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to travel occasionally within North America as required.
Assets
  • Experience in Small Modular Reactor (SMR) or advanced reactor programs.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a multi-site or global procurement organization.
