Job summary

The J.M. Smucker Co. in Minneapolis, MN is seeking a Manager, Category Advisory - Target to lead a small team and partner with Target's category management team to drive category growth.

You will develop strategies, write POGs, analyze POS and retailer data, and translate insights into actionable recommendations that influence assortment, pricing and promotions. This role blends leadership with hands-on analytics in a hybrid work environment. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 5+ years of work experience in Sales Analytics, Category Management, or Shopper Insights.
• Strong analytical, interpretive, and problem-solving skills to uncover trends and insights.
• Experience using POS, Panel, and Retailer Shopper data (Nielsen, IRI/Circana, DOMO, PartnersOnline, PowerBI / Tableau).
• Proficient in JDA Space Planning software and building POGs.
• Customer facing experience working with Target, Advisory preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to develop high-quality relationships.
• Strong cross-functional teamwork orientation.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to influence decisions.
• Self-motivated with ability to manage multiple projects.
• Ability to travel as needed (less than 10%).

Responsibilities

• Manage, coach and develop a team of 2 direct reports.
• Track sales trends and insights; develop and perform weekly sales reporting for the buyer.
• Identify key opportunities and risks; participate in category strategies based on insights.
• Review category and item-level performance data to provide recommendations on optimal shelf assortment.
• Translate insights into strategic growth stories with retailer-specific applications.
• Influence category strategies leveraging retailer data to drive growth.
• Deliver POGs for transitions and seasonal revisions; 1x/year and 3-4x/year respectively.
• Analyze data sources to identify opportunities with a multi-channel approach.
• Prepare presentations on trends, opportunities and solutions for growth.
